Smiley button disappeared from message window

My message windows no longer have a smiley button. I think this happened after the last update. I'm currently on the newest experimental build (0.95.6 build #17003). Is this a known issue or is it just me?

I am on the latest XP, yes, a bit old indeed. However, I selectively applied all the "useful" updates. I don't think system updates are relevant to this specific problem. Of course, I may be wrong...

I use tabsrmm+ieview and I see it just fine, no idea what's going on...

Switching to Scriver, it, the button is gone.
