Miranda-VI status.
« on: 03 11 2014, 11:18:06 »
Hello all!

I know that many people from our forum has/had profiles at miranda-vi.org so I think it's not bad to make this topic.

As we all see the Miranda-VI site is down/dead or so on.
Anybody has a contact to the people who run it? Will it work again or is it permanently dead?

Maybe someone found and use some alternative site?

It's bizzare that it dissapeared and it's quiet about it that time long.

What do you think?

Fear my anger, fear my power.

I wrote e-mail to author, I'll let you know when he responds. But I haven't seen him Online for a very long time on Jabber...

on crashlogs there isnt the point Protocols and Accounts.
on the old website i could manually import my versionsinfo but here not.
is it possible for not importing Protocols and Accounts or can manually import it?

would be nice to add VI site to forum header where find Trac and Wiki too

More features are planned in future, but right now Ain't nobody got time for that.

Please create new ticket on our tracker with your VI improvements requests ;-)

Well, I guess it is intentional, I can't see why this information would ever be needed in a crash report.

I don't see a point in that, because you would need CrashDumper plugin anyways. If you want to paste a random text, use sites like http://pastebin.com

I dont understand what you mean.

BTW could you show me that crash report?

Wishmaster,  take for example - http://pastebin.com/J1XsA060 - it shows only modules, no icons, weather.ini or accounts, cause we don't need this info in crash report.

I think what he means - can this info be removed in VI report (so it looks more like old VersionInfo plugin report, same as VI in crash report). I think if it can be done (while i don't see any reason  to hide it) - it is better be done on plugin's side with checkbox "do not show accounts and icons" (or something like that), not on server's.

Well, I want to see his specific crash report :)

Ah, he doesnt want to upload his list of accounts to the server. Well, Im nut sure why this info is needed anyways :) It only shows count of accounts. Its not an overly sensible information though.

Then we can add it to our To-Do list, to add option not to show it in report  :)

I don't see a problem in seeing a list of weather files/accounts. I don't think it's a sensitive information and it might be helpful sometimes.

This VI service is not used for crashes only, but for all kind of help. E.g.:
a) "Weather plugin stopped working, it doesn't update my stations." -> with this info we can see that user has some old .ini file.
b) "I added protocol X but I don't see it in options." -> with this info we can see that user hasn't created an account.

And it's good point that for creating VI report you need Crash Dumper anyway, so it's better to handle it automatically on files change (or manually from main menu) and not let user save some random/altered text manually.

But I'm still opened for suggestions/arguments.

here as example a old crashlog from me.
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=ERY0Viwe

It was only a idea to have same infos like in crashlogs without specific crashlogs infos

i made a ticket with trivial priority.  :P
