I thought I'd try this out and sent this message
red, green, blue, cyan, magenta or yellow or even white though that one is a little hard to check
and highlighted each word with the correct colour from the [font colour] menu button
and the results came out in
black, blue, red, yellow, green, magenta and black respectively.
According to the person at the other end they got "color=green" with square brackets round the word that came out in green so I presume it's the sending end that's doing something odd.
