I've checked the option "use online contact when no new mail", but this contact is at the very bottom of all my online contacts. As far as i can see, gmail notifier is not a proper "account" so i can't place it wherever i want using the list in "contact list/options".

Is there another way that I'm missing, to place the contact where i want?

you can use the contact rate (righ click on the icon), or just put the mail address in a group.
if you use the contact rate after you can control the position option->contatct list->general->contact list sorting

The contact rate did the trick, thanks.

So far, this plugin is working fine, i just have a little problem with it, but i don't know if it working as intended (in that case it would be nice to have an option to change it), or maybe it's a gmail thingy in combination with the verification system the plugin uses. I don't know, u tell me.

The thing is when i double click the gmail notifier contact it opens the web browser (nothing rare), but before going to my mail, it asks me for my password (which is saved in the browser so i just have to click 1 button and i'm in). So i have this annoying window every time i wanna check emails.

So far, i'm using the Action Manager plugin for that. As suggested to me in this very same forum, i use an action which opens the url: "https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox", and i go directly yo my inbox. No passwords asked, cause i'm already logged in, and i'm the only one using the  pc.

So, as i said, maybe it's a verification thing and can't be avoided (i reckon the action manager has no verification). Maybe it's worked as intended because security reasons. Maybe (hopefully) is something u can change, so if the account is already logged in, it doesn't prompt you for a password.

Well, it should automatically login when you double-click the contact, if I remember it correctly. You don't need Actman for that.
Title: Re: Gmail Multiple Notifier
Post by: zmaster on 09 07 2014, 16:20:22
If i use actman, i go directly to my inbox. If i use gmail notifier, it prompts me for my password first. Maybe cookies, or other firefox plugins may be interfering, dunno.

Notify.cpp (http://svn.miranda-ng.org/main/trunk/plugins/GmailNotifier/src/notify.cpp) line #138

It tries to login automatically (by sending login, pass as form data), but obviously Google changed format (name of fields, parameters, url) of that form and that's why it doesn't login automatically.

I don't use gmail or this plugin, so I won't dig into it, but it should be easy fix for some interested person...

fikus, I commited a fix. Try it with new build tomorrow. It won't login you automatically, but it shouldn't require login if you're already logged in browser.

Ok here dump
You don't have installed debug symbols. Make sure you have correct (for your miranda build) debug symbols in root of your Miranda folder and then reproduce that crash again. Crash report is pretty much useless without it.

Interesting... we changed nothing in plugin's source code. Well, I guess it's a Christmas' miracle then :D

Robyer, did you check his crashlog though? I wasn't sure what caused this.. but the cleanup function might be better to use a loop and not recursive function calls^^ It would be faster and can't eat up the entire stack in worst case^^ (I assume there might be a lot of stuff to be deleted, so 100+ recursive function calls might not be that good, though it wasn't the cause of the crash I guess)

White-Tiger, yeah, I looked at it, but I didn't understand why it crashed there... ???
But yeah, recursive cleaning doesn't feel right anyway :D

Is this plugin built on an old source of the original Miranda IM plugin?
I'm asking, because it's missing options compared to the Miranda IM version (seems to be the case for other plugins as well).
Particularly, I notice that the option to set the contact list name is missing.

Also, the plugin is extremely buggy for me.
Here's some of the issues that I'm having with it:
* "Login using default browser" doesn't work, it always launches IE.
* Getting the "Use online contacts when no new mail" option to work is tricky.
Think I finally got it working by checking/unchecking it, and restarting Miranda NG a few times (btw; the contact rate workaround won't work for me, because I don't use groups).
* The "Checking inbox" notification in my contact list only works on very rare occasions.

(Windows 8.1 Pro [x64] / Miranda NG v0.95.3 [x64] / Gmail Multiple Notifier v0.3.1.1 [x64])

Indeed - based on old source code - cause the new one is not available and borkra didn't want to share when he had it at the time. So this is what we have.

A couple of bugs:

1) The "Login using default browser" option still doesn't work.
It always launches Internet Explorer.

2) Trying to change the auto-check interval only works the first time.
After that, you can't press 'Apply' to set a new value (button is grayed out).

Tested with the following configurations under Win8.1Pro/x64:
* Miranda NG v0.95.4 x64 and the latest stable version of GmailNotifier.
* Miranda NG dev. v0.95.5 x64 and the latest dev. version of GmailNotifier (all other plugins disabled).

es, this setting is completly ignored, and it cannot be fixed easily

Fixed (and no, I didn't change version number for you).

LOL!
No problem.
Thanks for fixing it.
..and very fast too! :)

EDIT:
No, it's still not fixed.
However, I DID manage to change the interval value two times before the 'Apply' button went grey on me now.

how did you check his build? because the development build only updates once per day (most of the time)... about 3-7 UTC (not sure when exactly..)

So wait about 4 hours ;)

Fixed

Yes, I can confirm that it's fixed now! :)
Although, there still a minor issue, because now the 'Apply' button doesn't become grey AFTER clicking on it.
I mean, it works, but since it doesn't become grey when clicking on it, you get the impression that your click didn't register.

OK.

I've created a ticket for the default browser problem here:
http://trac.miranda-ng.org/ticket/938/

I didn't create a ticket for the problem with MSN's mail counter though, because leecher has already pointed out that he's aware of the issue, and it doesn't currently seem to be fixable.

No biggie, but the icons for Gmail Multiple Notifier doesn't load anymore, and you have to add them manually.
