DeltaChat protocol plugin - QR code goes where?
« on: 16 06 2026, 17:53:06 »
I understand I need to add this a second device using the QR code... but what I do not understand is where I am supposed to put that QR code.

At the moment, this functionality not implemented, it is impossible to connect Miranda as a second device.

The text on the wiki page, as it presently is, says
Quote
To add an account to Miranda NG you need to have an existing account in another DeltaChat client and add Miranda NG as another device using the QR code.
from https://wiki.miranda-ng.org/index.php?title=Plugin:DeltaChat

This made me think that is something you can do. So, if I'm using an old-style E-mail relay account does that work with the plugin currently? The page has essentially no information. Maybe, the page could be revised by someone who knows about the plugin to include more details.

I wrote this text based on the words of the plugin developer (he probably misunderstood something)

A QR code is needed to join an existing chat.

In the official client, click on the chat name and select smth like "create invitation QR" This creates a QR code with a link. You can enter the link in Miranda (click the protocol icon in the status bar -> "Add a chat using the QR code").

But to communicate with the network, you need to have an account registered to your own email and specify the settings from this email in the Miranda protocol settings. If you registered via chatmail, you will not be able to connect Miranda to this account.

This answers my second question and makes sense with the options the plugin gives me. I have to add my own E-mail as an additional relay (assuming this works) or use a 'classic' account which operates only on my own e-mail as a relay.
