Contact List location on startup problem
« on: 22 09 2016, 18:57:35 »
Hey,

Love the program, thanks for continuing Miranda after the original project died. I have a weird issue with my contact list. Whenever I start up NG, the window starts at the bottom of my screen, docked to the right edge. The very bottom, so that it scales so small that not even a single name can be seen.

I always drag it up to the top of my screen (top right corner) and it auto expands to cover the 90% distance that I have it set to take up. After that it properly returns to that position whenever I restore the contact list, until I shut down and start up again.

Any idea what's going on here? How can I fix this so that I don't have to drag the contact list up to the top of my screen on startup? I keep it on my secondary monitor, if that makes a difference.

Has Clist changed height or is it out of the screen? Dragging for me it's just moving but you are saying that it is scaled down and that kinda lost me.

Few things could be helpful for anyone trying to help here:
1) VersionInfo - for plugins
2) screenshot (or gif etc.) of the problem - if possible
3) screenshot and/or description of some clist settings (depends on used clist plugin)

Attached is a screenshot of what it looks like, down to the bottom right corner of my monitor.

I don't believe I'm using any plugins besides what came with the default NG installation.

Also attached clist settings and uploaded both of those screenshots here:

Secondary monitor could be the case. Try to turn off "Automatically resize window..." option from "Behavior" tab then adjust height of the list and test if it will be preserved. That's my quick guess

What about directly telling it where to go via the StartPosition plugin? ( http://wiki.miranda-ng.org/index.php?title=Plugin:StartPosition/en )

That seems to stop the issue. However, I am quite partial to the automatic resize option, I've used it for years and it's extremely nice. Any chance this could be fixed with an update?

I tried this plugin, but there doesn't seem to be an option to make the clist start on a secondary monitor when using it. I can only position it in different places on my primary monitor.

Any chance this could be filed as an issue to be fixed in time? It's very consistent and I would really appreciate not having to deal with it at some point in the future.

You can report it on the miranda github as an issue: https://github.com/miranda-ng/miranda-ng you can do this yourself, no need to be a developer or anything.
