IEHistoryW - plugin and Miranda NG
« on: 18 08 2014, 22:15:06 »
Hi there,

are there any plans to get "IEHistoryW.dll" working again with Miranda NG? I used it for years in Miranda IM and now it is missing...any chance?

Best regards,
Frederik

may I ask what it is? Is it related to IEView?

Hi, exactly, it makes your history look like in the message Windows from ieview. It only works in combination with ieview. Since NG the dll is no more supported / shown in the plugin list.

I second this. Would also like for history to be displayed like I have set TABSRmm with ieview.

Yes, just like that. But mostly incorporated in History++ so we have all the other features as well. Much more beautiful if history is displayed in the same manor as the chat, regarding styling of text and stuff. But, if it wont be with history++ I would rather use IEhistory than history++

::EDIT:: Since I use x64 it took sometime before I realized this was for 32bit ;)

well.. yep that one is for 32bit^^ porting it to 64bit takes more time and most likely adds new crashes :P
Besides IEHistory isn't by far as good as History++ is... it displays using IEView.. but that's it... No Bookmarks, no "Conversation"-list etc...

Also note, IEView wasn't meant to be used with lots of events... so using it for history is generally a bad idea. (as it will be damn slow)

edit:
64bit test build attached. (btw, could work with stable Miranda but is compiled for dev build :P)

edit II:

With that in mind, is it possible to make just the events in History++ use same styling as IEView in chat dialog? My log tends to bulk up over time :] so the conversation-list is kind'a useful. But History++ just looks so darn ugly in my eyes that it almost hurts  >:( but I still love the devs for making this a free software and not caring about donations, so here's an E-beer to you all  :DRINK:

That would be exactly the best option, if possible.

Thank you so much! Frederik

well.. not from my side :P History++ is written in Pascal and I'm not sure if there will be any developer that can and will add something like this^^

Otherwise using IEView in History++ is of course easier then writing a new history add-on... but History++ using Pascal complicates some things ;)

P.S. I think the IEHistory port is as stable as the original... though I didn't test 64bit. (first post updated)

That's sad. I was hoping it would've been an easy changer for the plugin.
I'm not askning for a rewrite of history++, but just an addition that makes it capable of rendering the text/conversations in a similar manor as tabsrmm. Wish I had stayed in touch with programming over the past 10 years, then I would've been able to contribute :[ but alas, I cannot atm!!

By "easy change" I refer to copying text-style and stuff from ieview to history++

Well, even if this doesn't make it to "the finals" I'll stick with h++ :] you say it's better for handling larger text, and I believe you

Exactly this! I just now had time to test your plugin - and exactly this is, what IEHistory did in Miranda IM. Yes, you are right, History++ does a lot more - but anyway, thats exactly what i was looking for.

I recommend:
- to put this dll into the plugin-download-list
- to let the Miranda IM Updater update to this dll, so users coming from IM just keep their IEHistory if used before.

Thanks a lot for your quick support,
Frederik

if you used my latest build, you might have noticed that I've removed the border around IEView's control. Can you inform me if you like it this way or want the border back?

i used the 32bit version which is dated 19.08.2014 18:22 and this is exactly what i was used to.

Unfortunately i did not try the version before, so i can't tell you what i like more...where did you have a "border"?

I don't have a border... I've removed it :P Don't you remember how IEHistory looked like?

if you look at the rather old screen shot from Miranda IM (it's even an old IEHistory version) you can clearly see the border/spacing around the IEView control.. (i.e. the actual history)
