Skype works in Windows 7 but not Windows 8.

I downloaded a 64bit zip package, configured and customized everything, and running ok in Windows 7 64bit.
I copied the same folder to Windows 8 64bit and Skype is not connecting. everything else works.

What could be the problem?

    SkypeKit is no longer supported by Microsoft, so no bug fixes or enhancements are to be expected. Look for SkypeClassic as a replacement (which requires Skype client to be installed).
    SkypeKit will crash on Windows 8.1. It is a crash in SkypeKit itself, and there is nothing we can do about it.

It won't work in Windows 8.1 and nothing can be done about it.
