Supress notification of specific contact, but save event history?

Similar to ignore, but save history?

With ignore, the contact is completely silenced, no history record. I'd like to supress all the notification of a specific contact, but save the history, so that I can manually check later.

Is this possible? Thanks.

That's what I've missed as well.... but my use case was a rare one.... so not sure if it's an overall useful feature.

White-Tiger, hidden contacts. When you delete a contact you can hide it instead and keep all the ignore settings. You can see and manage such contacts in preferences, ignore list. You can also restore those contacts to visible again or hide again.
