Title: Pidgin is having issues with Facebook, how's Miranda doing?
Post by: Zevel on 31 01 2021, 01:58:40
Apparently Facebook made some changes to their IM protocol recently and they break the Pidgin plugin.
Is anyone here experiencing issues?

Sometimes Facebook blocks account and request password change (mainly when 2 accounts are used on one computer in Miranda). Developers are not expecting any problems right now, therefore, no idea how to track and fix the problem

Unfortunately we have no idea how Facebook algorithms work. The decision to block an account is made by Facebook servers according to unknown criteria. Facebook does not disclose this information.

FB seems to have updated the protocol, which broke the Pidgin Facebook plugin.

If nothing had changed, Miranda does not use FB protocol at all to begin with.

Interesting.  What does it use for Facebook IM then?

We emulate FB Messenger by MQTT protocol

Zevel,
ERROR_QUEUE_UNDERFLOW was fixed in Miranda a while ago
no, that's not a change in FB protocol, that's just a problem with one's message queue

I think facebook blocked my account only once in the last 6 months, if I'm not wrong. Luckilly, it didn't happen again, unlike the old deprecated protocol which was very very frequent

I installed pigdin for facebook for a short while because of the old protocol lockdowns, but yes I think pigdin stopped working around january (the last time I connected at least)...
