Title: Facebook locked my account
Post by: TekWiz on 16 07 2019, 03:20:03: I've noticed that when I sign into Facebook with Miranda, Facebook often locks me out of my account and I need to create a new PW. It says this probably happened since I tried to login from some illegitimate site. I have instructed Miranda not to try to re-login if it loses connection but that hasn't helped. I just get locked out. Not sure what can be done about this.

One day, I confirmed new friend request through miranda. Next day Facebook kick me out. I reset my password and though, OK, no operations other than messaging trough Miranda. But I was using it about a month and today, I was kicked again - Temporally disabled account. "We’ve detected suspicious activity on your Facebook account and have temporarily locked it as a security precaution."

Important to say - I'm not using a Facebook outside of Miranda at all (not even for logins). No phone apps, no browser on desktop, nothing. I just using it as a messaging platform through miranda ng (on a desktop with permanent location). It is clearly something fishy there and Facebook did not want this type of users. Cant just Miranda NG connect with fake Browser User Agent of Chrome or Firefox? And act as a browser so Facebook did not know it is a 3th party message client? I suspect problem lies there.

In my case, I keep logging into FB often from Chrome, and tend to leave a tab with it open (among like 200 other tabs!) And I also have FB Messenger Lite on my phone and keep that logged in too. It seems to do this to me at random. Like it happened a month ago, then happened 5 days ago and again today! To recover my account it just lets me enter a new password and asks me if I want to remove any recent activities! It says someone had tried to login to my account suspiciously. In fact I am not even sure that in the past 5 days I was even logged in with Miranda. But for now I'll be more careful with logging in with Miranda and see if this still happens...

Sure it's possible Facebook might want people to login with a browser, but they do have the FB messenger app too. I did disable "reconnections" on Miranda, I thought that may have been causing it a while ago. But if they didn't want it, it would never work. So something is very strange! (Unless someone IS trying to login to my account somewhere! lol!)

Yes - the login credentials are correct, I also deleted the Device ID from database. What should I provide you, that would help to solve this thing?

Post by: Myshor on 26 07 2019, 18:41:12: Almost sure you got your account locked. Try to login from blowser that you are not using daily. I check all problems with FB using Edge.

It's well known issue with Facebook in Miranda last days. People complains that idea for passwords is almost done. ;)

smth parses FB page and corrupts it... maybe you need to play with an antivirus / firewall, maybe your admin blocked an access to facebook

Post by: PrzemekRyk on 29 07 2019, 12:30:28: I'm the only admin in this house. And I didn't block anything. The only problem is with Miranda - I use Facebook without any problems connecting by Browser (I've checked Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, Edge and Internet Explorer).

Sorry for such delay - short holidays.
How am I suppose to do that? Options -> Network -> Logging, and than?

Post by: ellick on 11 08 2019, 03:30:04: I've used miranda and now miranda NG for over a decade and it sucks that everybody is on fakebook now. I created an account just for messenger but now it's locked "due to security measures". The only options I get are to log in from a computer i've used before (which doesn't work) or to upload an official government document with my ID. Good luck with that. I saw where miranda NG could be seen as malware and cause this or it could be from using a VPN. Regardless, i can't get back in now.

So, the question is I've since learned you can set up messenger using a mobile phone number and you don't even need a FB account. I tried it with the official messenger program in the Microsoft store and it worked. It works with Pidgen too though I can't seem to add FB users or get them to show up online. Plus Pidgen seems to crash over and over.

Is it possible to use the mobile phone number and password with miranda ng? I tried it but Miranda only asks for the email address you use to sign in to FB and since I didn't set up a FB account this time, it doesn't seem to work.

Post by: ellick on 16 08 2019, 15:44:47: No one has any idea? I've had to switch to using pidgin instead of miranda since NG's facebook plugin doesn't allow logging in with a mobile phone number. Is this something miranda could add support for? I got tired of fighting with facebook over the account they locked me out of and just let it go. I added the few contacts I had to the mobile number account on messenger instead. Messenger works fine that way without an actual fake book web page account. Pidgin supports it but not miranda.

What I was asking was if it's possible to add the ability in miranda to use a mobile phone number to log in to messenger? I wasn't aware that was even possible till a friend told me recently.

Miranda is only able to use an email address and password that are the same as your FB account. The official Messenger for Facebook and Pidgin have the ability to use a mobile phone number to log in without needing a facebook web account at all.
