Title: Problems with my profile after upgrading to 0.95.8 (Solved)

After I upgraded my Miranda  to 0.95.8, my Miranda unable to start writing it is unable to open dor123.dat (My profile file) because he thinks that it is in an unknown format, and refuse to start.
How to solve this problem?

Update: After deleting Miranda NG 0.95.8 and restoring my O.95.7 from a backup, it works correctly, but than when updating to 0.95.8, all of my AIM contacts, getting lost after converting my profile to the new format.
How to solve this problem?

I am guessing it has to do with AIM service being terminated (read here https://help.aol.com/articles/aim-discontinued ) and thus the protocol being deprecated, so there is no DLL to handle those messages.

I recommend the following - Migrate your AIM contacts to Dummy protocol (on old miranda), then upgrade. Migration to dummy should be easy, if you unload the AIM protocol and then view your account menu, the "Upgrade" option should be there - in the next window just choose "Dummy" as the new protocol, and that should do it.

Please make a backup before you do all this though.

So, just delete AIM.dll after upgrade to last stable and go to step 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> step 1 from "Since Miranda 0.95.5 and newer" and OK.

Upgraded to 0.95.8, than done steps 2-5 plus step 1 from "Since Miranda 0.95.5 and newer" and still AIM contacts don't appearing.
Also, I've noticed that in my computer, after upgrading to 0.95.8, AIM protocol being already unloaded and disabled and can't be enabled.

What do you see in account manager? Is your account disabled (unchecked)? The one after upgrade to Dummy too? Unchecked accounts won't show up their contacts in contact list.

After upgrading to 0.95.8, the AIM account has been disabled and had a red symbol. After upgrading it to the dummy account, it was checked, and still the contact list don't show up.

If you have Dummy plugin active, upgraded account checked then contacts should be visible (they are on my side but not exactly for Dummy from AIM). Can you see some other contacts in list?

I've Database Editor++ plugin installed, it have no option regarding to the contacts:

The contacts from the dummy accounts don't appears at all in the Option->Contacts->Ignore:

Returned to 0.95.7 from a backup, but than getting this error both at start up and when getting into the plugins options:

It turned out that this error is caused by the dummy protocol, which Miranda refusing detecting it.

I didn't said anything about options of Database editor. I said to open it like that "Main menu->Database->Database editor". It has its own separate window where you can lookup internal things

That's bad. Upgrading to Dummy doesn't matter if they weren't there in the first place. And that could means that they were deleted or not imported during profile conversion. Better keep your backup created before conversion safe. Problem needs further investigation.

Maybe you would be able to import contacts from old profile on top of the current one, but I'm not sure. Or trying to convert AIM to Dummy on old profile (before conversion), like Vulpix said, would work. But to back to old version you not only needs to restore old profile but plugins too (maybe they are in update backups [Miranda root folder -> Plugin Updates -> Backups]). If you don't have old Dummy then that error could be from new Dummy plugin which wasn't overwritten if you copy-pasting backup on top of installation.

We can build Dummy for the previous stable (0.95.7).
If you can roll back to 0.95.7, then remove the Dummy you installed, because of Miranda plugins not compatible between builds. Then, check if AIM contacts are on the contact list

Try to migrate AIM -> Dummy on old stable.

Problem solved. I downloaded the Dummy protocol for Miranda 0.95.7, Done steps 2-5 and step 1 from "Since Miranda 0.95.5 and newer" and restarted Miranda, than upgraded Miranda to 0.95.8 and the AIM contacts in the Dummy protocol survived and appearing. It looks like the installation of the newer 0.95.8, completely erases the AIM protocol completely including all of its contacts and history.

wor123, if possible, please test: on old stable (0.95.7) put this Dummy (https://forum.miranda-ng.org/index.php?topic=5463.msg21591#msg21591) to Miranda, but not migrate AIM -> Dummy. Just run Miranda, upgrade to 0.95.8 and convert profile to new format.

We add some logic to Dummy, so Dummy can automatically upgrade deprecated protocols. It it works, we can just add Dummy into the core. So users will no longer experience such problems.
