Title: Facebook protocol issue
Post by: 1c3man on 19 04 2016, 10:15:47
I got a strange problem for several days now.
I can connect to Facebook just fine, I see the list of contacts and I can write to them.
However I don't receive any message anymore. I see the notification that they are typing, but no message.
In browser I see the messages though.

I'm using the stable 32 bit version of miranda.

Any clues what can I do to fix this?

I'm using the stable 32 bit version of miranda.

The stable version is incredibly outdated. Make a backup of your miranda folder and then update the whole miranda to the development version. Most of us here are using it already anyway. FB should work there, it's constantly being fixed by @Robyer

1c3man, are you sure you have Facebook plugin version 0.2.13.0?

I've got the same problem since couple of hours. I can send message to other user using FB Protocol, but my Miranda doesn't receive answers. :(

My VersionInfo - as you can see, I've got Facebook plugin version 0.2.13.0.

1c3man, PrzemekRyk, allright, please try this version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yl267xrdwlz0qfl/FacebookRM.7z?dl=0

and let me know how that works. Btw you probably won't be getting "Message read at ..." info.

Please test it with classic messages and also with chat messages.

Post by: konieckropka on 21 04 2016, 13:01:01
Today I have exactly the same issue. Messages are not received by Miranda. Sending messages works flawlessly. Also alert that someone is typing/has stopped typing is shown correctly. Only the messages are not shown in the chat window. (This is my first post. I have regeistered just to confirm the issue I got ;)  Hello guys. )

Edit:
Updating to newest dev x64 solves the problem for me. I didn't use this Droppoxed version of facebookRM.7z

Sorry, that it took me so long. Strange thing, but after couple of hours (without trying your version from Dropbox) Miranda started to receive messages. Right now I've got version 0.2.31.1 obtained by updates and it also works well. :)

Thank you.

I have the same problem with the newest stable version. Is there a solution?

Hi All,

Well - today I've once again met he problem with posting an URL address into comment on Facebook page, or with sending an URL to another person i n private message using Miranda. And here's "funny" thing - after this !@&*$%!$@%^! security scan with F-Secure I was asked to send them following files for analyze:

(https://forum.miranda-ng.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs10.ifotos.pl%2Fmini%2F2016-05-0_sahrpax.png&hash=30eb0adcad5ecb137ca20a2d97847581467ff329) (http://ifotos.pl/z/sahrpax/)
(https://forum.miranda-ng.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs10.ifotos.pl%2Fmini%2F2016-05-0_sahrpan.png&hash=3bad252649864b47c7d465619fc1726629b75c62) (http://ifotos.pl/z/sahrpan/)

I know, that they didn't want to get facebook.dll file, but maybe it will help you with solving problems with this repeatedly ocuring "security issue".

Newest stable is about year old -> use development version ;-)

PrzemekRyk, image is too small so I don't see anything there.

Anyway, you can try this version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yl267xrdwlz0qfl/FacebookRM.7z?dl=0 (only for development version of Miranda NG!)

Hopefully this might fix/improve the captcha and pc scan problems (but it won't be instant, you need to use it for few days and watch if that behaves differently - and let me know in any case). BUT in this version is broken one thing - list of online users won't be 100% reliable - it may show some users as online which are in fact offline, and vice versa.

Thanks.
I can expect this is actually because Miranda (Plugin Updater) is updating files while they are being used (while Miranda is still running). That's what viruses often does.
But it's not related to the problems with Facebook captchas and antivirus checks.

Ok. I just wanted to give an info what's going on when I received from Facebook a message, that I probably have malware in my PC. Scanner from F-Secure marked those files as suspisious. :(

I have many notifications in avast (last time it's not that often) about plugins in Miranda. I just send info that it's wrong alert and don't say anything here. ;)

That file version you uploaded also seems to also address the status issue I was having and seems to show messenger/on the phone status again for me (on 64bit).

Post Merge: 16 05 2016, 01:56:27
Addendum: It is showing the phone status via Mobilestate and Fingerprint/Clientnotify, but not as part of the status itself. Is there any way to have that trigger the On the Phone Status as well as change the icon and/or be added to the status hange pop-up (if it thinks it's on the phone or via messenger)? This is all using the file version you uploaded. So one could have an option for it only to show "online" if the person is on the website
Title: Re: Facebook protocol issue
Post by: Robyer on 16 05 2016, 12:42:22
newsjunkie247, I wanted to get rid of "on the phone" statuses, because it's not reliable. And with this modified version even the statuses itself aren't reliable. It's easy to add option for that, but I'm not sure it is benefical...
Title: Re: Facebook protocol issue
Post by: AnrDaemon on 16 05 2016, 13:48:38
"On the phone" was always a bogus "status", as many protocols treat it as a modification of some other status. I.e. "online+on the phone".

Just wondering if you been able to fix the online list problem yet or is that something on dumb FB side? That is the only bug i have (i think lol)
Title: Re: Facebook protocol issue
Post by: Robyer on 21 06 2016, 13:38:37
AniFran, I haven't time to look at anything lately, but what do you mean by online list problem?
In current implementation we can't see online users when we have disabled chat (when we are "invisible" in Miranda). Do you see online users when you are online?
Title: Re: Facebook protocol issue
Post by: AniFran on 21 06 2016, 18:16:57
I have mine set to online, but it will show users online even then they go off, so my list just gets bigger and bigger. I have to disconnect and reconnect for it to refresh with the real ppl still online.

This should be already fixed (for 2 days or so), so you can check if it works better already.

I wanted to mention it earlier, but couldn't find this topic :)

Ok, let me keep an eye on it. Everything is upto date on the dev ch. I will let you know. Thanks

Yep, still does not update for me. Did a clean install of MNG and still when users go offline, still showing them online in the list and the list just keep getting bigger and bigger. I'm still having to disconnect from FB and reconnect and then it will show correct users online.  Yes, using Dev version. Seen it updates lots of time but still the bug is their and i don't get why.
Title: Re: Facebook protocol issue
Post by: Robyer on 31 07 2016, 12:43:22
Now I think it's the "away" people that makes it bigger. Perhaps Facebook shows only online and offline statuses, but in Miranda I use also "away", so that may be the reason. I can switch all "away" users to offline, or switch "away" users that are away for long enough to offline... But maybe I'm just interpreting data from Facebook wrongly.
Title: Re: Facebook protocol issue
Post by: AniFran on 13 08 2016, 03:02:04
It looks like that could be it. A time out with away would prob work good.

Any hints about how to fix this?
Title: Re:Facebook protocol issue

1c3man, it is already fixed in development builds. Unfortunately I don't know when new stable will be released.

Using the current development version fixed the issue for me (not being able to send fb messages) but i get an error starting the program. It's localized and is something along the lines of some number (1) not found in mir_app.mir. I can just click ok.
Title: Re:Facebook protocol issue

sloppdawop, you can't mix plugins and core from different releases, either use everything from single stable release, or everything from single development release.

AniFran, commited workaround for setting users that were last active >15 minutes ago as offline. I'm not sure how well that would work, but at least something :)

Maybe I'm experiencing some "false-positives", i.e., some friend is offline in Miranda but in reality he is online.

So, it's still not very reliable...
