Title: Find/add contacts... Bug with Yahoo-Plugin: finds any name, existing or not
Post by: FredAC on 01 01 2015, 12:21:11
Hi there,

the "Find/add contacts"-Function in Miranda NG has a bug using the yahoo protocol: no matter which Yahoo-ID (existing or not) you type in the search, Miranda shows you an existing account.

This behaviour is not new, in NG it was like this from the first day on, probably even in last versions of Miranda IM (not sure at the moment). But i know, in former times in older versions of Miranda IM, this was working properly.

If you do the same (adding/searching contacts) in other protocols like skypeclassic, facebook,... Miranda seems to "work"/search for a second and then shows you an result (or not, if the ID is not existing). In Yahoo protocol it seems like there is just no search executed, as the account (which is often not existing) is always shown as available within 1 milli-second :-)

Would be fine if you could solve that.

Fred

Hi,
How exactly do you add those contacts? Where do you type the ID, in the top "ID field" or in the "Custom" ID-field, close it that dropdown? What did you select in the dropdown?
Not sure if it is intentional though, as you may add emails to your list just for the sake of emailing with them.

Anyway, it should go to the bug tracker please ;)

Hi,

first of all I double-checked, that the yahoo account I use for my test is not existing. I checked it using the original web-messenger in yahoo.

Then i repeated to try to add the account "sdfögljdsölfgöldksfuuuuuuuuuuzzzzzzzz" with Miranda.

--> Miranda says "1 user found" - which is obviously wrong.

To answer your questions: you can see everything in the screenshots below.

I added the bug to the bug tracker as requested:
