Now that ICQ is going away I'm going to loose all my chat history with my wife over many years :-(
Could I use Miranda to migrate that chat into another protocol? Export/Import ?
I have not used Miranda before today, but I installed and logged in and it looks great and can connect to ICQ using my phone number and SMS as the key, however when I open the old chat it only shows 10 old messages, and then new ones.
So I found the place in options / message sessions / preload number of previous events which is default to 10 - I presume that is what is controlling how many old messages it gets, So I changed it to a bigger number, 1000, but then nothing will load.
Is what I am trying to do unrealistic? Please advise me, thanks.

...gets from Miranda database to message log
But in order to get history from server to database you must load it from server (right-click on contact → Load history from server)

You can create a metacontact. Drag ICQ contact on top of other contact and you will receive a metacontact: a virtual entity of two contacts with a common history. For example, if you communicate with the same person via ICQ and Jabber, drag his ICQ contact to his Jabber contact. Now edit metacontact and set Jabber as "default" and "send to offline". Done, now you will communicate with him via Jabber, but in metacontact there is a history from both Jabber and ICQ.
