Title: GmailNotifier.dll not show notifications
Post by: ULTIMA PRIME on 14 07 2021, 14:01:44: Hello, for a month after updating the plugins and Miranda NG, notifications about new e-mails (from the GmailNotifier.dll plugin) are not working.

Luckily, I had a copy of the older version of the program that the notifications work on.

It seems that this is not the fault of the GmailNotifier.dll plug-in itself, because after moving it from the older version of Miranda NG to the newer version, it also does not work.

Since I need a working plugin to show new e-mail notifications, I cannot update the program or plugins.

The version of Miranda that notifications work with is:

0.96.1 alpha build # 24098

Does anyone know the solution to this problem?

I added some extended logs to purify this situation, perhaps that's smth Google specific
would you please update nightly build and make this log again?

Post by: dartraiden on 18 05 2022, 18:01:44: Install it via PluginUpdater (Main menu -> Available components) if it really missing in /Plugins folder

If it present, use PluginUpdater (Main menu -> Check for updates) to update all plugins to latest versions. Dev version cannot work with plugin from stable version and vice versa.

A couple of days ago Google disabled support for what they call 'less secure apps'.

Here is what they say (in Manage your Google Account > Security):
"Less secure apps & your Google Account
To help keep your account secure, from May 30, 2022, Google no longer supports the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password."

Is this the end of Gmail Notifier or can we expect an update?

Post by: dartraiden on 11 06 2022, 21:32:38: Is 2FA enabled? If not, try enabling 2FA (https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185839) and create an app password (https://support.google.com/mail/answer/185833) for Miranda (using it in Miranda instead of the account password).

Since the app password is different from the account password, the new restriction may not apply to it.

Otherwise, we will either have to stop supporting the plugin, or teach it how to use OAuth (I don’t know if anyone will do this)

After enabling 2 factor authentication and creating an app password, Gmail Notifier successfully logs in and pops alerts for new emails.

A few days ago, I added 2 new accounts in GmailNotifier to check for new messages.

Unfortunately, even though I turned on 2-step verification and created a password for the app, I don't have notifications about new emails from these 2 new accounts (showing information about new emails on old accounts that I added to GmailNotifier a few months ago works)

So today I did a test, I created a new profile in Miranda and added in GmailNotifier this new account, created a few days ago, and the second one, which I have had for a long time (and in which it works in the original Miranda profile, showing information about new emails) - I gave them in Settings GMail account passwords for the application - and as it turned out - notifications do not come for either the new account or the old one.

On the account name I only see: checking

Netlog shows: Error 401

Can anything be done about it?

Install DbEditor plugin, right-click on mailbox in contact list → open in database editor. Edit the password manually (without spaces).

I also noticed that it does not work every time (It doesn't work more often) "Check Gmail inbox" and "Check all Gmail inboxes"
